f. If the TDM Bus failure has disappeared, rein sert the circuit pac k
and run the test tdm P command to see if the TDM Bus failure is
still present.
If any of the TDM Bus tests fail, replace the suspec t circuit pac k.
The procedure is comp lete.
If none of the TDM Bus test fail, the procedure is c omplete.
4. If the backplane p ins are not bent, run the test tdm P command t o
determine if the TDM Bus fault is still present.
command to determin e if the TDM Bus fault is still present.
a. If any of the TDM Bus tests fail, the problem is with another c ircuit
pack. Reinsert the original susp ect circuit p ack and continue wi th
Part 4 for the next circuit pac k.
b. If none of the TDM Bus tests fail, replace the susp ect circuit p ack.
The procedure is comp lete.
5. If all standby circ uit packs have been tested , and the TDM Bus failure still
exists, execute the reset system interchange (PPN ) or th e reset pnc
interchange commands (EPN), and the set tone-cloc k c ommand to get
the currently active circ uit packs into standb y mode. Continue with Part 4
of this procedure for eac h of the newly active circuit p acks.
Procedure 4
Procedure 4 attempts to isolate the TDM Bus failure to a par ticular set of carriers.
Only the circuit pac ks in selected carriers are c hecked. Procedure 4 is used if the
preceding p rocedures fail, bec ause it can help loc ate multiple circ uit pack
failures and failures of the carrier hardware itsel f.
In this procedure, the TDM/LAN Cable As semblies and TDM/LAN Bus
terminators are replaced. If this a ction does not resolve the TDM Bus fault, the
carriers are reconfigured so th at certain carriers are disc onnected from the TDM
Bus. This is done by moving the TDM/LAN Bus ter minators (ZAHF4) on the
carrier backp lane. To terminate a TDM Bus at the end of a particular carrier, t he
TDM Bus cable that connects the carrier to the next carrier should be unplugged
and replaced with the TDM/LAN Bus terminator (see tFigure 9-107). When the
length of the TDM Bus is modified the c ircuit packs that a re essential to the
system operation and TDM Bus maintenance (for example, MSSNET and
Tone/Clock), must still be connected to the n ew
