Problems detected d uring signaling may b e caused by off-b oard faults in the CO
switch or connections for which a Warning alarm is raised.
Before a maintenance test can be run on a port, the port must b e idle. If an
incoming call seizes a p ort that is being tested , the test will abort and the
incoming call will p roceed.
For transmission and signaling sta ndard specifi cation, refer to

Ports Out-of-Service without Errors or Alarms
A common trouble on DID trunks that prod uces no errors or alarms occ urs when
the CO busies out (disconnec ts) the port. This situation occ urs when the CO
thinks there are problems with the DID por t. In this case, no incoming calls will be
possible through this p ort. This may result in complaints from outsid e callers
trying unsuccessfull y to call in. This problem can b e diagnosed b y listing
measurements on lightly used trunks. If a p articular port is d etected as not in
use, a call to the CO will be nec essary to get the connec tion back in service.
