If there is no reply:
a. Escalate the problem or replac e the circuit pac k. The problem is
not with the external network but within the circ uit pack.
3. At the command promp t, type ping

nnn.nn.nn.nn

(the external IP trunk
server address) and p ress Enter.
If configured correc tly, the system displays:
Reply from nnn.nn.nn.nn: bytes=32 time <##ms TTL=###
If there is no reply, verify the IP address and chec k the physical
connections to and from the TN802 c ircuit pack.
4. At the command promp t, type ping

nnn.nn.nn.nn

(the IP address of
another computer on the network) and press Enter .
If configured correc tly, the system displays:
Reply from nnn.nn.nn.nn: bytes=32 time <##ms TTL=###
If there is no reply
a. Verify the IP address
b. Check the physic al connections to and from the TN802 c ircuit
pack.
c. Check the internal ca bles on the TN802 circuit pac k (Notes 4 and 6
in Figure 9-57).
d. Try pinging another devic e on the same subnet.
e. Try pinging the gateway to the rest of the network from the sub net.
f. Try pinging a device not on the l ocal subnet but on the network or
another subnet.
5. When finished, at the command p rompt type exit and press Enter.
Internal connections to the LAN
Test the internal connections to the LAN by ping ing the
local host
internal IP trunk server
another device connec ted to the network:
1. Click Start in Windows (lower lefthand cor ner), then select Programs, then
Command Prompt.
This starts a DOS command line session.
2. At the command promp t, type ping 127.0.0.1 (the local host d efault
address) and press Ent er.
If configured correc tly, the system displays:
